California, Arizona and Florida have all done well in banning gay marriage. Traditional marriage between a man and a woman is a sacred institution that is essential to our culture. One group in particular, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, deserves recognition for the hard work and financial support they gave to the cause of defining marriage unambiguously between a man and a woman.

The departure of Thanksgiving, thousands of businesses depending on a single day of sales to stay in business, massacres in India - and what was the top story over the weekend? I think Val Kilmer is a good actor: especially in Tombstone. But, anyway, what do his acting skills have to do with his political aspirations, at least directly? His acting makes his name recognizable: if he runs, his name won't be some disembodied appellation on a patriotic sign on the side of the road.

Being president of the United States is a lofty goal. It's the most stressful job by far in the United States of America. Every citizen and non-citizen's life is in your hands. This has been a position that has been so far out of the reach of black America that we can't see it in the rear view mirror.
